Use and care
Silestone and ECO Line Colour series
General instructions for use
Daily cleaning and care
Since the surfaces of Silestone® and ECO Line Colour products are virtually non-porous, they are highly resistant to household stains. Cosentino recommends using Q-Action* cleaning agent to clean Silestone® and ECO Line Colour surfaces. If this product is not available, it is recommended to use water and neutral soap. After cleaning, rinse the surface with plenty of water and dry it with a paper or cotton kitchen towel.
Cleaning stubborn stains
To deal with tough stains, the cleaning method depends on the type of stain.
The most common types of stains are:
Grease stains
Apply Q-Action or a similar product (a soapy dishwashing liquid) to the stain and scrub it with a sponge until it disappears. Repeat the process if necessary. Then rinse with plenty of water and dry the surface.
Limestone
Use vinegar and a damp sponge. If the stain persists, you can use a limescale remover diluted with water. Never
Do not leave on the stain for more than 2 minutes. Repeat the process if necessary. Rinse with plenty of water and dry with a paper towel.
Silicone and plaster stains
We recommend removing stains as soon as they appear. Use a knife, holding the blade horizontally to the surface, and CleanColorsil, then wipe with a sponge. If you do not have CleanColorsil, you can use the most common silicone removers. Then rinse with plenty of water and dry.

Removing stubborn stains
To remove stubborn stains, pour a small amount of Q-Action (or similar product) onto the stained surface and leave for 2 minutes. Then scrub with a soft abrasive sponge (suitable for glass hobs, blue type: non-scratch), rinse with plenty of water and dry. If the stain persists, contact the manufacturer or the dealer who supplied you with your Silestone materials.
Mechanical effect
One of the main characteristics of these surfaces is their resistance to mechanical impact. However, you should avoid impacts on less resistant areas, such as along the edges of the surface.
Preventing heat damage
After using certain kitchen utensils, such as pans, pots and other items that are hot, do not place them directly on the surface. Instead, use a mat (a rubber mat if possible) until the utensils have cooled down. The large temperature difference (hot object and cold surface) can damage the surface.

General precautions
Avoid prolonged contact of the surface with water. The areas most exposed to water are around the sink.
Do not use sharp objects or cut food directly on the work surface. Instead, use other protective materials, such as a cutting board.
Do not place the surface outdoors or anywhere else where it could be exposed to intense ultraviolet radiation.
Do not place hot objects or objects that have just been removed from the stove on the surface. Use a coaster.
Do not use water repellents, sealants, varnishes and similar products.
Do not polish the surface.
Do not place heavy objects on the surface that are not suitable for placement on the surface.
Do not use paint strippers, caustic soda or products with a pH >10. If bleach or solvents are used, rinse the surface with plenty of water. Never allow such products to come into contact with the surface for a long time, as they can affect the surface after 12 hours. Avoid using chlorine-based products and prevent any contact with hydrocarbon acids.
Do not use degreasers with a high mineral content or very strong agents containing 50% hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide solution.
Do not use cleaning products that contain minerals, including microparticles.
Do not use abrasive sponges as they may scratch the surface. Use a sponge for cleaning.
Do not use the following products on Silestone and ECO Line Colour surfaces: paint strippers, oven cleaners, cleaners containing methylene chloride, acids intended for cleaning drains or acetone-based cleaners.
nail polish remover.
If any of these products spill on a surface, clean it as soon as possible using plenty of water and neutral soap.
Use of the above types of products may void the product warranty.
Cleaning silicone and adhesive residue
During production (cutting joints, laminating, cleaning workpieces) and during surface installation (seams, splash guards, etc.) where glues, adhesives and silicone are used, we recommend cleaning immediately after such work (no later than 30 minutes after gluing). Clean the surface with a clean cotton cloth or paper. Use Clean Colorsil (Cosentino cleaning agent) to clean silicone and adhesives, you can also use isopropyl alcohol or isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) or ethanol.
Unrecommended products
It is not recommended to use solvents or acetone to clean the worktops or sheets. It is not recommended to use abrasive sponges. We recommend using a microfiber cloth or damp paper towel.
